Owner of Healing Paws Veterinary Center

Dr. Jamie Totten

Dr. Totten grew up until she was in 3rd grade in Madison, WV (Boone County). After that, she moved to Hurricane. She fell in love with the Hurricane area (and would eventually make that her permanent adult home) during this time and graduated in 1997 (stop calculating :)!) She did her undergraduate at the University of Charleston in Biology and the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced for a year before returning home near Richmond, VA. In West Virginia, she has practiced relief medicine, as a contract veterinarian in vaccine clinics, in an animal shelter and in another local veterinary hospital for several years prior to opening Healing Paws. She has had some amazing mentors who have taught her how to practice and she has passed that on to several mentees.

Dr. Totten loves to spend time outdoors and in nature with her four dogs, two kids and two cats. Her kiddos are the center of her World and she loves them fiercely. Her rescue fur kiddos are also her children. Her four dogs are two large mixed (dobie/hound and pittie) dogs and two beagles. Her two kitties are tri-pawed and came from the animal shelter where she was a shelter vet --they both had severely injured paws that needed to be amputated.

Dr. Totten has particular interests in soft tissue surgery, dermatology, hematology, oncology, pain management, geriatric patient care, and internal medicine. She loves educating clients and students (she teaches at the dual Bridge Valley/Carver Career Center Veterinary Technology program).

Dr. Totten, along with her AMAZING team, helped to design Healing Paws from top to bottom to be a peaceful and relaxing experience from start to end for you and your pet. Pets heal better in calm and peaceful environments (just like we do!) with people who handle them respectfully.

RVT

Beth

I graduated from Carver’s first veterinary technician class in 2009. For the past few years, I’ve been teaching Carver’s Large Animal Lab for 2nd year vet tech students. Taking them out in the field to get hands on experience with horses, cows, lambs, goats, pigs, and alpacas.

I live on a farm with my husband Jeremy, son JO, and daughter Ada. Our adult daughter Sydney lives close by.

We are usually busy with football, cheerleading, or 4H.

We currently have 7 horses (some boarding with us), 3 dogs, 5 cats, 2 goats, 1 4H lamb, and 2 betta fish.

In my spare time I like to spend time with my family and friends, ride horses, and travel. Fall and Halloween are my favorite times of year. I love scary movies and haunted history.
